Teach Me How to Dabka

Dabka began as a way to repair the mud-shingles for the roofs of homes in the Levant. Many villagers would come together for this ritual and sing songs while doing it. Over the years, the practice became more celebratory- at weddings and parties- as well as a form of non-violent resistance. It is an important part of Palestinian culture.

Come learn the basics and also some special Palestinian moves that you've been seeing in all the videos. Jinan has been teaching dabka for over 20 years, and enjoys bringing all backgrounds to participate in this dance.

The class will be every 2nd Wednesday of the month, unless otherwise noted. $10 fee per person, and if you are unable to pay but still want to join, reach out to Jinan on Instagram.
