from Gaza to DC
🚨🚨🚨 POP-UP ALERT 🚨🚨🚨
Join Marcelle and Jinan as we prepare and serve recipes from our dear friend and chef from Gaza, Ahmad.
Ahmad had landed his dream job at one of the best restaurants in Gaza on October 5th. Unfortunately, two days later, he lost his job due to occupational aggression on Gaza. After that, Ahmad and his family cooked for the displaced people in their area of Rafah using whatever supplies they could find.
During Ramadan, Ahmad started creating and sharing recipes online that used creative ingredients to replicate traditional Palestinian food. His vision is remarkable, and he has inspired people all over the world with his resilience.
Last week, Ahmad and his family left Gaza to Egypt amongst the threats of a ground invasion. He is starting over in a new country and needs help with rent so that he can rebuild his dream of being a chef.Join us for this incredible meal on May 8th at D Light Cafe. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Ahmad's fund. You can also help him directly by reaching out to him.
Weaponizing Antisemitism to Stifle Criticism of Isr*el
Deployed through legislation, the media, and even in academic settings, the weaponized charge of antisemitism now constitutes the frontline of efforts to stifle criticism of Isr*el’s genocidal campaign and those who enable it. Panelists discuss related risks, harms, and limitations.
Join Jadaliyya at 2:30 PM for a critical conversation with speakers Raz Segal, Shira Robinson, and Adam Horowitz moderated by Bassam Haddad and Asli Bali on the dangers, harm, and limitations of Israel and its allies weaponizing Antisemitism, notably within academic institutions. Live on X and YouTube (Channel: Jadaliyya).
Voices from Gaza (live performance)
The Museum of the Palestinian People is proud to present "Voices from Gaza," a powerful live performance that underscores the resilience and enduring struggle of Palestinians. There will be two showings at the Sitar Arts Center.
"Voices from Gaza" features testimonies from Gaza from 2010 to 2024.
In 2010, the Ashtar Theater in Gaza collaborated with children across Gaza to share their stories from Israel’s 2008-2009 aggression on Gaza. These testimonies, eerily relevant today, offer a glimpse into the ongoing struggles faced by Palestinians in Gaza.
In addition to the original testimonies, the cast will share recent testimonies from Palestinians in Gaza over the last six months.
All narratives are performed by Palestinians local to the DC area, each who has offered their love to share these stories with us.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness testimonies spanning the Palestinian experience.

Shattering Justice and Re-Making the Muslim Threat: Legacies of the War on Terror
Join Muslim Counterpublics Lab for a virtual panel, "Shattering Justice and Re-Making the Muslim Threat: Legacies of the War on Terror," at 7 PM EST. ASL and CART provided.
As we watch the United States continue its violence on universities and campuses across the nation against students demanding that their schools divest from Isr*el, we're simultaneously witnessing its support of genocide of Palestinians. While it tries to brush its past violence under the rug, we have to refuse these attempts. This is why we invite you to attend.
Part 1: Students Rising
Join Jadaliyya as they converse with heroic students of the encampments on May 2, 2024 at 1:30pm. Student protests against the genocide in Gaza have engulfed campuses across the United States. We address the demands of the students, the world they imagine, and the broader context within which encampments are constructed and dismantled. In conversation with Bassam Haddad. To join in Jadaliyya’s next episode, contact them.
Jerusalem through a Palestinian Lens: Introducing the Jerusalem Story
Join the Museum for the Palestinian People for a free virtual screening on zoom.
Jerusalem Story tells the story of a unique city through a new lens—that of the city’s large and diverse indigenous Palestinian community.
This community has deep historic roots in Jerusalem and holds the strongest attachment to and love for their city. Yet, they have been subjected to unrelenting efforts to erase their presence in, and potential claim to, the city—past, present, and future—in the service of cementing Israel’s imperative of claiming sole sovereignty in perpetuity over a “united Jewish Jerusalem.” Against this ongoing effort to erase the Palestinian cultural and community history as well as severing connection to place, Jerusalem Story is reasserting the Palestinian presence.

Land Day
Join thousands across the world to march with Palestine for land and liberation!
Land Day (يوم الأرض) is rooted in Palestinian resistance against settler colonialism and affirms the right of return for all Palestinians to their sovereign homeland. It commemorates the uprising on March 30, 1976, when Palestinians organized strikes and protested against the theft of tens of thousands of dunams of Palestinian land by the zionist entity. In response, zionist occupation forces shot and killed 6 Palestinians, and injured hundreds.
March 30 also marks the 6 year anniversary of the beginning of the Great March of Return, where thousands of Palestinians in Gaza marched along the illegal border that separates them from the rest of Palestine. Once again, the occupation forces retaliated by brutally murdering over 230 Palestinians and injuring over 36,000.
This year, Land Day reminds us of the Palestinian people’s commitment to defend their land from the destruction, appropriation, and colonization of the zionist settler-colonial project. On March 30, we will rise together to honor our land, martyrs, prisoners, and our people’s will to resist and continue the struggle against settler colonialism and occupation.
**There will be dates, water, and light iftar for those fasting**
**ASL Interpreter will be present**

This Land Day may we stay clear in our commitment for freedom for Palestinians from the river to the sea. May we honor all of the martyrs, prisoners and Palestinians in Gaza and diaspora fighting to defend their land and their right to exist every day.
Land Day Panel Discussion
JOIN PALESTINIAN FEMINIST COLLECTIVE MARCH 30:
Each year, on March 30th, the Palestinian people observe Land Day, marking the events of 1976 when Palestinians in the lands occupied in 1948 staged a general strike and orchestrated large-scale demonstrations to denounce the zionist state’s theft and occupation of Palestinian lands. March 30th, 1976 culminated in the martyrdom of six Palestinians at the hands of zionist police forces. We remember today the freedom fighters and martyrs dedicated to the liberation of our land and people, and we honor them in our commitment to learn from their lives and legacies as we continue to struggle for the liberation of our homeland. Palestinian land is a source of life, love, and steadfastness against zionist settler-colonialism, genocide, and dispossession.
In the continuous genocidal seizure of land, bodies, hearts, and dreams, how do we envision Healing through land-based practices? How do we re-establish our connection to the land and engage in the revival of our traditional wellness methods, supported by resources to relearn and reclaim them?
