This cafe will focus on renewing our commitments to each other and our communities to tackle the threat that U.S. state violence, hegemony, and empire pose to all of us. The Counterpublic Cafe will include a viewing of the “The First Rainbow Coalition,” a documentary about the coalition spearheaded by Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton that included the Puerto Rican group The Young Lords, and a White group called the Young Patriots. Leaders in the community will then guide us through a discussion on how to build alliances in these precarious times so that we can protect our communities.
