Collaging Through Grief

As we come upon the 23rd anniversary of September 11, we want to make space for the grief that comes along with being a queer Muslim in an increasingly Islamobigoted and genocidal society, but this year want to provide options to explore such emotions artistically! (Space is also open to folks not wanting to specifically engage with grief.) Register here.

FACILITATOR: Khadija Jahmila is a local Afro-Caribbean mixed-media artist who specialises in handcut-paper and digital collage, and she was awarded the NextGen Award by VisArts Rockville, MD in 2020.

COVID SAFETY: Masks are required for this event (K/N95 or better). Masks (KN95) will be available for attendees, but we encourage you to bring your own! We will have rapid tests available on-site for individuals to utilise if they would like to be certain of their status.

If you are wanting to join virtually, this option will be available.

A Zoom link will be shared the morning of the gathering to those who indicated they do not wish to join in person, but want to join virtually.
Please note if you are not attending in person, and are joining online, you will need to bring your own materials to follow along with the workshop, such as: scissors, magazines, stickers, small odds and ends, etc.
