Beyond the Muslim Ban: Taking on Islamophobia Globally

  • Baltimore Convention Center, Room 309 1 West Pratt Street Baltimore, MD, 21201 United States (map)

Will you be at Netroots Nation from July 11th-13th in Baltimore, Maryland?  Then join Muslim Counterpublics Lab at a panel titled "Beyond the Muslim Ban: Taking on Islamophobia Globally," on Thursday, July 11th at 10:30 am in room 309 at the Baltimore Convention Center. This panel will also be streamed, so be sure to check out Netroots Nation’s agenda.

In 2024, the Muslim ban is back in the news, but without a larger conversation about Islamophobia. What does Islamophobia in the U.S. look like beyond this one policy and administration? What are the links between Islamophobia, white supremacy, and other right wing forces? How have the communities from the U.S. to Palestine to India and beyond been impacted by policies inspired in part by Islamophobia? This panel will feature activists confronting Islamophobia through corporate accountability campaigns, narrative and policy change work, and grassroots organizing and how work against Islamophobia can link the local to the national to the global.
